The Wayamba Development Authority is inviting applications from suitably qualified and experienced professionals for the executive leadership position of Director General (Permanent). The successful candidate will act as the Chief Executive Officer responsible for administering, managing, and directing the statutory functions, development projects, and general administration of the Authority.

Salary Scale (HM 1-1)

• Scale: LKR 140,640 – 15 × 4,100 – LKR 202,140/- per month. (Note: Appointees contribute to the Employees' Provident Fund [EPF] and Employees' Trust Fund [ETF] and are not entitled to a government pension.)

Key Responsibilities

• Acting as the principal executive officer in charge of the administrative, managerial, and developmental operations assigned by the Wayamba Development Authority statute.

• Providing strategic leadership to drive regional development goals, institutional efficiency, and effective resource management.

Qualifications & Requirements

1. Citizenship & Residency:

• Must be a citizen of Sri Lanka. (Preference will be given to permanent residents of the North Western Province for at least 03 years, verified via a Grama Niladhari certificate.)

2. Educational & Professional Qualifications:

• A Bachelor's degree recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC); AND

• A postgraduate degree in Management, Economics, or Administration, along with at least five (05) years of satisfactory service experience related to Human Resource Management or General Management; OR

• At least five (05) years of experience in a post within Grade I of the Middle Management (MM) service category.

3. Age Limit:

• Applicants must be not less than 30 years and not most than 50 years of age as of the closing date of applications.

4. Other Requirements:

• Must possess an exemplary character and adequate physical and mental fitness to execute the duties of the position.

Selection Procedure

• Selection will be made through a structured interview conducted by an interview panel appointed by the appointing authority. Only candidates who fulfill the basic qualifications will be called for the interview.

• Structured Interview Evaluation Criteria (Total 100 Marks):

  1. Additional Educational / Professional Qualifications (Diplomas, Degrees, Postgraduate Diplomas, Postgraduate Degrees, IT/Computer Science qualifications, language proficiencies, charter memberships): Max 25 marks

  2. Additional Relevant Experience (Management-level experience exceeding 5 years): Max 30 marks (Passing minimum for selection: 50 marks)

  3. Other Performance and Skills (Institutional development proposals & 10-minute presentation, research/publications, special achievements, leadership, bilingual/English proficiency): Max 35 marks

  4. Overall Competence Displayed at Interview: 10 marks
