Health Driver (Open)

The Ministry of Health and Mass Media invites applications from qualified male citizens of Sri Lanka to fill vacancies for the post of Health Driver Grade III within the Ministry and its institutional network.

Candidate Qualifications & Requirements

1. Eligibility & Demographics:

• Citizenship: Must be a citizen of Sri Lanka.

• Gender: Restricted to male applicants only.

• Age Limit: Between 18 and 45 years of age as of the closing date of applications.

• Character: Must be of excellent character, supported by certificates from the Grama Niladhari (counter-signed by the Divisional Secretary) and two independent referees (including a respected person/clergy).

2. Educational & Professional Qualifications:

• Education: Passed G.C.E. (O/L) examination in six (06) subjects with at least two (02) credit passes in not more than two sittings.

• Driving License: Must possess a valid driving license categorized under Grade 'A' (specifically including Categories C and D).

• Experience: Minimum of five (05) years of driving experience after acquiring the relevant license category, verified by certificates.

3. Physical & Sensory Requirements:

• Fitness & Availability: Must possess sound physical and mental fitness, capable of serving anywhere in Sri Lanka and working 24/7 on shift rotations, including day and night duties.

• Height: Minimum height of 5 feet and 2½ inches.

• Vision: Vision standards must comply with the Sri Lanka Ophthalmological Society criteria for heavy vehicle drivers (visual acuity within acceptable limits for left and right eyes, and free from color blindness).

Salary Scale & Conditions

• Salary Scale: Rs. 42,780 - 10 x 490 - 10 x 540 - 10 x 590 - 12 x 630 - p.m. up to Rs. 66,540/- (PL-03 2025 structure, implemented in accordance with Public Administration Circular No. 10/2025).

• Probation: Permanent appointment subject to a 3-year probationary period, with contributions to Widows'/Widowers' and Orphans' Pension Schemes.

Examination & Selection Procedure

Selection is based on a competitive written test and a practical skill evaluation:

1. Written Examination:

   • Traffic Laws & Motor Mechanics (100 Marks | 40% Pass Mark)

   • First Aid, Patient Care & Transport Services (100 Marks | 40% Pass Mark)

2. Practical & Professional Test:

   • Driving Skill Test (100 Marks | 40% Pass Mark)

   • Candidates scoring above the pass marks in the written exam will be called for interviews and practical tests in order of merit (approx. double the number of vacancies).

How to Apply

1. Examination Fee: Open applicants must pay an examination fee of Rs. 1,000.00 to the "Director General of Health Services Examination Fee Collection Account" (Account No. 7041318 at Bank of Ceylon, Taprobane Branch) and securely attach the original bank receipt to the application form.

2. Application Format: Applications must be hand-written on A4 paper (using both sides) following the specimen format, or downloaded from the official Ministry website.

3. Attestation: The applicant's signature must be officially attested by a Principal of a Government School, Justice of the Peace, Commissioner for Oaths, Attorney-at-Law, Notary Public, Commissioned Military Officer, Gazetted Police Officer, or a permanent public/provincial public service staff-grade officer drawing an annual consolidated salary exceeding Rs. 854,880.00.
