The Kurunegala Municipal Council is inviting applications from qualified external candidates residing within the Kurunegala district to fill 09 vacancies for the post of Driver (Grade III) in the Primary Skilled Service Category. ( Note: This recruitment specifically targets driving duties related to solid waste management tasks in the Health Department of the Kurunegala Municipal Council.)

Position Summary

• Salary Scale: Monthly salary scale of PL 3 - 2025 - Rs. 42,780 - 10 x 490 - 10 x 540 - 10 x 590 - 12 x 630 - Rs. 66,540/- (according to Public Administration Circular No. 10/2025).

Candidate Qualifications & Requirements

(a) Educational Qualifications:

• Must have passed at least 6 subjects with credit passes for at least 2 subjects in not more than two sittings at the G.C.E. (O/L) Examination (excluding optional subjects). Must have passed at least 5 subjects in a single sitting.

(b) Professional Qualifications:

• Driving Licence: Must possess a valid driving licence (Class A) issued by the Commissioner of Motor Traffic for heavy motor vehicles exceeding 34 hundredweight, heavy trailers, and buses capable of carrying more than 32 passengers.

• Knowledge: Sound knowledge of the Highway Code.

(c) Experience:

• Minimum of 3 years of experience as a motor vehicle driver (must be confirmed via service certificates).

(d) Other Qualifications:

• Must be a citizen of Sri Lanka.

• Must possess a good moral character and sound physical health.

• Must prove permanent residence within the Kurunegala District for the three years immediately preceding the closing date of applications.

• Must fulfill all qualifications required for the post on or before the closing date of applications.

(e) Age Limit:

• Must be not less than 18 years and not more than 45 years of age.

Selection Procedure

• Eligible applicants will be called for an interview, a professional interview, and a trade proficiency test to verify professional skills. The final decision regarding selections and the number of recruits rests with the Municipal Commissioner of the Kurunegala Municipal Council.
