Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons for the post of External Visiting Lecturers for the Diploma in Psychological Counselling – 2026 conducted by the Distance and Continuing Education Unit (DCEU) of the University of Ruhuna.

Minimum Educational Qualifications

Applicants should possess:

• A minimum one-year diploma in Counselling or Psychological Counselling, AND

• A Bachelor’s degree with Honours in Sociology, Psychology, Social Work, or an equivalent/higher qualification in a relevant discipline.

Professional Experience

• At least one year of practical experience in a relevant field, such as psychiatry, psychology, counselling psychology, or professional counselling.

Relevant Teaching Areas

Applicants should indicate their subject expertise and the course units they are willing and qualified to teach, particularly in the following areas:

• Counselling Techniques

• Ethics and Professional Practice in Counselling

• Religious Counselling, particularly Hindu and Christian approaches to counselling

• Counselling Skills
