The Distance and Continuing Education Unit (DCEU) of the University of Ruhuna invites applications from qualified candidates for the post of Program Assistant on a contract basis.

Position Summary

  • Role: Program Assistant (On Contract)

  • Institution: Distance and Continuing Education Unit (DCEU), University of Ruhuna

  • Location: Wellamadama, Matara, Sri Lanka

  • Contract Duration: 6 or 12 months (depending on programme requirements/duration), automatically concluding upon completion of the programme

  • Application Closing Date: 17th November 2026

Candidate Qualifications & Requirements

1. Educational Qualifications:

  • G.C.E. (O/L): Passed in six (06) subjects at one sitting with credit passes for:

    • Sinhala Language

    • English Language

    • Mathematics

  • G.C.E. (A/L): Passed all subjects (except the Common General Paper) in one sitting.

2. Preferred / Added Qualifications:

  • An acceptable qualification in computer applications of not less than six (06) months duration obtained from a recognized institute.

  • Two years of experience in using computer application packages.

  • A degree obtained from a recognized University / Higher Education Institute will be considered an added qualification.

3. Age Limit:

  • Between 22 and 35 years of age.

Remuneration

  • Salary: All-inclusive fixed monthly salary of Rs. 53,200.00 (Basic: Rs. 30,000.00 + Cost of living: Rs. 17,800.00 + allowance equivalent to EPF and ETF).

Selection Procedure

  • Selection will be conducted via a computer-aided test and/or a structured interview. Shortlisting may be applied by the university.
