Driver (Limited)

Applications are called from qualified officers currently serving in the Ministry of Health & Mass Media or hospitals and institutions under its purview for the post of Health Driver – Grade III under the Limited Recruitment Stream for 2026.

Position Summary

Salary Scale

• Salary Scale: PL-03 2025: Rs. 42,780 - 10 x 490 - 10 x 540 - 10 x 590 - 12 x 630 - Rs. 66,540/- (Paid in accordance with Schedule II of Public Administration Circular No. 10/2025).

Qualifications & Requirements

1. Educational Qualifications

• Passed the G.C.E. (O/L) Examination in 6 subjects at not more than two sittings with at least two Credit passes.

2. Service & Professional Qualifications

• Service Experience: Must have a minimum of 05 years of continuous satisfactory permanent service in a primary grade (non-technical) and semi-skilled post, OR a minimum of 03 years of continuous satisfactory service in a primary skilled officer grade.

• Driving Licence: Must possess a valid Class A driving licence (including Categories C and D in the current licence format).

• Driving Experience: At least 05 years of experience in driving heavy vehicles after obtaining the relevant licence (to be proven by certificates).

3. Physical & Mental Fitness

• Sound physical and mental fitness to serve in any part of Sri Lanka and perform duties of the post.

• Minimum height requirement: 5 feet 1.5 inches.

• Comprehensive knowledge of road rules.

• Vision Standards: Sri Lanka Ophthalmological Society standards (left and right eye vision within 6/9 limits; free from colour blindness).

4. Other Prerequisites

• Must be a citizen of Sri Lanka with an excellent character (supported by a Grama Niladhari certificate and 2 character certificates from respected figures including clergy).

• Upper age limit: Not applicable (internal candidates).

Selection Procedure

Selection is based on a structured interview and a practical trade test:

1. Practical Trade Test: Driving skill test (maximum 100 marks, pass mark 40%).

2. Structured Interview: Based on seniority, additional educational qualifications, and relevant experience (maximum 100 marks, pass mark 40%).

3. Candidates scoring above the pass mark in the interview will be called for the practical test in order of merit (twice the number of vacancies). Final selection combines marks from both evaluations.
