Vacancy Notice: Driver – Grade III (04 Vacancies)

Applications are invited from eligible citizens who are permanent residents within the administrative division of the Vavuniya South Sinhala Pradeshiya Sabha to fill 04 vacancies for the post of Driver (Grade III) under the approved service conditions of the Northern Province Local Government Department.

Position Summary

Key Duties & Operational Scope

• Operating and driving various council vehicles, including Gully Bowsers, Garbage Compactors, Tractors, Water Bowsers, Three-Wheelers, Vans, and Pick-up trucks, supporting solid waste management, wastewater disposal, drinking water supply, and municipal services.

Qualifications & Eligibility Criteria

1. General & Residency Qualifications

• Must be a citizen of Sri Lanka with good moral character, sound health, and pleasing personality.

• Must be a permanent resident within the Vavuniya South Sinhala Pradeshiya Sabha division for at least 05 years (verified via Grama Niladhari certificate or electoral registry).

• Age Limit: Not less than 18 years and not more than 45 years as of the closing date of applications.

2. Educational & Professional Qualifications

• Educational: Passed G.C.E. (O/L) examination in 06 subjects in not more than two sittings (must include at least 5 passes in a single sitting), with credit passes for Sinhala Language and Mathematics.

• Professional: Must hold a valid driving license including vehicle categories A, B, B1, C, C1, and G, with at least 03 years of experience since obtaining the license.

Salary Scale & Remuneration

• Salary Scale: PL3-2025 salary scale in accordance with Public Administration Circular No. 10/2025:

  Rs. 42,780 - [10 x 490 - 10 x 540 - 10 x 590 - 12 x 630] - Rs. 66,540/-

Selection Procedure

• Selections will be made via a structured interview conducted by an approved interview committee based on the following marking scheme:

  • Educational Qualifications: 50 marks (Minimum 20 required)

  • Job Knowledge: 25 marks (Minimum 10 required)

  • Communication & Attitude: 25 marks (Minimum 10 required)

  • Total: 100 marks (Minimum qualifying mark: 40)
