Scientific Assistant

The Institute of Biochemistry, Molecular Biology and Biotechnology (IBMBB) of the University of Colombo invites applications from suitably qualified persons for the post of Temporary Scientific Assistant for HRIPT Clinical Testing and Validation (On Assignment).

Position Summary

• Role: Temporary Scientific Assistant for HRIPT Clinical Testing and Validation (On Assignment)

• Institution: Institute of Biochemistry, Molecular Biology and Biotechnology (IBMBB), University of Colombo

• Location: Colombo 03, Sri Lanka

• Appointment Duration: Initial appointment is for 05 months, extendable up to a total period of 02 years based on satisfactory progress.

• Age Limit: Not more than 45 years.

Remuneration & Benefits

• Salary Scale: U-AS 1 (I): Rs. 73,270/- + Rs. 17,800/- (COLA), paid in accordance with UGC Commission Circular 02/2025 (i) dated 04.04.2025.

• Provident & Trust Funds: Employee contribution of 8% to EPF, with a 12% employer contribution by the Institute, alongside a 3% employer contribution to the Employees' Trust Fund (ETF).

Qualifications & Requirements

Educational Qualifications

• A First Class or Second Class (Upper Division) in a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) Degree; OR

• A Second Class (Lower Division) in a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) Degree; OR

• A Pass in a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) Degree.

Preferences & Core Competencies

• Eligibility for provisional registration/practice as a medical practitioner in Sri Lanka, as applicable.

• Ability to work in a clinical research and laboratory environment, adhering strictly to SOPs, protocols, and quality-management systems (ISO / GLP / GCP).

• Strong interest and background in dermatological testing, cosmetic safety assessment, clinical research, and/or translational research.

• Excellent written, verbal communication, documentation, and record-keeping skills.

• Prior training or experience in dermatology, clinical research, human volunteer studies, patch testing, ethics applications, and scientific/technical reporting.
