Engineer, Programme Assistant

The Coconut Development Authority (CDA), operating under the Ministry of Plantation and Community Infrastructure, is the apex statutory organization driving the development, regulation, and modernization of the coconut industry in Sri Lanka. We are seeking a qualified, proactive, and experienced Civil Engineer to join our team on a one-year contract basis to support critical infrastructure and engineering operations.

Position Details

• Position: Engineer (Civil)

• Vacancies: 01

• Employment Type: Full-time, Contract Basis (1 Year)

• Location: Colombo 05, Sri Lanka (Must be willing to perform duties in any part of Sri Lanka as required)

• Salary / All-Inclusive Allowance: Rs. 109,490.00 / month (Basic Contract Allowance: Rs. 91,690.00 + Cost of Living Allowance: Rs. 17,800.00)

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, supervise, and oversee civil engineering, construction, and infrastructure maintenance projects across Authority premises and facilities.

• Inspect ongoing structural works, estimate project bills of quantities (BOQ), and verify project documentation and quality compliance.

• Coordinate with contractors, project teams, and regulatory bodies to ensure timelines, safety standards, and engineering specifications are met.

• Prepare engineering progress reports, technical assessments, and maintenance recommendations for senior management.

• Perform all other related duties assigned by the Chairman and Executive Management.

Eligibility Criteria & Qualifications

Candidates must satisfy one of the following educational routes:

1. Degree in Civil Engineering obtained from a university recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) of Sri Lanka;

   OR

2. National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) proficiency certificate not lower than Level 07, issued by a technical/vocational training institution recognized by the Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission (TVEC).

Work Experience:

• Minimum of one (01) year of post-qualification experience in civil engineering within a Government Department, Public Corporation, Statutory Board, or recognized institution.

General Requirements:

• Citizenship: Must be a citizen of Sri Lanka.

• Age Limit: Between 22 and 45 years as of the closing date (Note: Upper age limit does not apply to candidates currently employed in Government Departments, Provincial Services, State Corporations, or Statutory Boards).

• Fitness & Character: Must possess excellent character and be physically and mentally fit to serve in any part of Sri Lanka.

Benefits & Statutory Contributions

• Provident Fund & Trust Fund: Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF: 10% employee contribution, 15% employer contribution) and Employees’ Trust Fund (ETF: 3% employer contribution).
