Laboratory Assistant

The Department of Animal Production and Health invites applications from qualified candidates for 20 permanent vacancies in the post of Laboratory Assistant Grade III under the Primary Semi-Skilled Service Category (Open and Limited basis).

Job Overview

• Role: Laboratory Assistant Grade III (රසායනාගාර සහායක - III ශ්‍රේණිය)

• Total Vacancies: 20 Posts (50% Open Basis, 50% Limited Basis)

• Organization: Department of Animal Production and Health

• Location: Peradeniya, Sri Lanka (Service island-wide)

Salary Scale (PL 2-2025 / Public Administration Circular No. 10/2025)

• Scale: LKR 41,800 – 10 × 490 – 10 × 540 – 10 × 590 – 12 × 630 – LKR 65,560/= per month. (Salaries will be paid in accordance with Schedule III provisions of the circular.)

Qualifications & Requirements

1. Educational Qualifications (For Open & Limited Applicants):

• Passed the G.C.E. (Ordinary Level) examination in six (06) subjects with at least two (02) credit passes in not more than two sittings.

2. Professional Qualifications & Experience:

• For Open Applicants: Must possess a proficiency certificate in laboratory procedures at NVQ Level 2 or Level 3 (or above) issued by an institution recognized by the Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission (TVEC); AND a minimum of two (02) years of relevant work experience in a laboratory, verified by certificates.

• For Limited Applicants: Must have completed a minimum of five (05) years of satisfactory service in a primary unskilled position within the Department of Animal Production and Health, confirmed in the post, while fulfilling basic recruitment qualifications.

3. General Requirements:

• Citizenship & Character: Must be a citizen of Sri Lanka with an exemplary character (verified by a Grama Niladhari DS 04 certificate obtained within the last 6 months and a character certificate).

• Age Limit (Open Applicants): Must be not less than 18 years and not more than 45 years of age as of 13.11.2026. (No age limit for limited applicants.)

• Physical & Mental Fitness: Must possess sufficient physical and mental fitness to serve in any part of Sri Lanka.
