The Department of Excise of Sri Lanka is inviting applications from qualified individuals for the post of Language Translator (Sinhala / Tamil - Tamil / Sinhala) Class I on a contract basis.

Salary Scale & Allowances (MN-6 2025 / Public Administration Circular 10/2025)

• For the year 2026: LKR 86,623/= (68,823/= + 17,800/=) per month

• For the year 2027: LKR 93,290/= (75,490/= + 17,800/=) per month

Educational & Professional Qualifications

• G.C.E. (O/L) or Equivalent: Passed with a credit pass (distinction/credit) for both relevant translation languages (Sinhala and Tamil).

• Degree: A degree obtained from a university recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC).

• Computer Literacy: Must pass a practical test in Sinhala and/or Tamil word processing.

• Age Limit: Applicants must be not less than 21 years and not more than 65 years of age.

• Additional Advantage: Professional translation experience will be considered an extra qualification.

Selection Procedure

• Selection will be carried out through a structured interview and a practical test. Only candidates who fulfill the required qualifications at the structured interview will be called for the practical test, and final selections will be made based on merit ranking.
