The Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA) invites applications from qualified citizens of Sri Lanka to fill the vacant post of Translator (Sinhala - English) under the Super Grade (SG) category.

Position Summary

Candidate Qualifications & Requirements

1. Educational & Professional Qualifications:

• Passed three (03) subjects at the G.C.E. (Advanced Level) examination at one sitting; AND

• Passed G.C.E. (Ordinary Level) with credit passes for Sinhala Language or Sinhala Literature, and English Language or English Literature; AND

• A Diploma in Language Translation (Sinhala - English) issued by a recognized institution.

2. Experience:

• Minimum of five (05) years of experience as a Language Translator (Sinhala - English) in a government department or a recognized private institution.

3. Mandatory Requirements:

• Excellent proficiency in both Sinhala and English languages.

• Ability to prepare documents and type using computers in both Sinhala and English.

• Sound physical and mental fitness, excellent character, and willingness to serve anywhere in the island.

Age Limit

• Age Limit: Between 18 and 45 years as of the closing date of applications. (The upper age limit does not apply to applicants currently in the public service or eligible retired military personnel as per relevant circular provisions).

Salary Scale & Remuneration

• Salary Code & Scale: SG 3 – Initial basic salary step of Rs. 53,425/- with an annual increment of Rs. 1,150/-.

• Estimated monthly gross salary is approximately Rs. 132,000/-.

Selection Process

• Candidates will be evaluated through a practical test and a structured interview, alongside a medical examination if required.
