Applications are invited from eligible Sri Lankan citizens for the Open Competitive Examination for Recruitment to Class 2 Grade II of the post of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Officer in the Northern Provincial Information and Communication Technology Service.

Educational & Professional Qualifications

Applicants must fulfill at least one of the following four qualification categories by October 30, 2026:

• Option 01: A degree in Computer Science or Information Technology obtained from a university or degree-awarding institute recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC).

• Option 02:

  • A degree from a UGC-recognized university or degree-awarding institute with Computer Science or Information Technology as a main subject (comprising at least 1/3 of the total subject content); OR

  • A Postgraduate Diploma in Computer Science or Information Technology from a UGC-recognized university or degree-awarding institute.

• Option 03: Any degree from a UGC-recognized university or degree-awarding institute AND a Postgraduate Degree in Computer Science or Information Technology from a UGC-recognized university or institute.

• Option 04: National Vocational Qualification Level 7 (NVQ Level 07) or an equivalent qualification recognized by the Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission (TVEC) AND at least two (02) years of professional experience in the Information Technology field at a Government, Semi-Government, or TVEC-recognized institution.

General Eligibility Criteria

• Citizenship: Must be a citizen of Sri Lanka.

• Age Limit: Not less than 21 years and not more than 35 years of age on the application closing date (October 30, 2026).

• Residency Requirement:

  • Must have been a permanent resident of the Northern Province for a continuous period of at least three (03) years within the six (06) years immediately preceding the closing date of applications; OR

  • The applicant or their parents must have been born in the Northern Province AND the applicant must have been a permanent resident of the Northern Province for a continuous period of five (05) years.

  • (Note: Extracts from the Electoral Register must be submitted during the interview to verify permanent residency.)

• Character & Fitness: Must possess an excellent moral character and sound physical and mental fitness to serve in any area of the Northern Province.
