Senior Research Fellow

The Lakshman Kadirgamar Institute of International Relations and Strategic Studies (LKIIRSS), established under Act No. 45 of 2000 (as amended by Act No. 32 of 2006) and functioning under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism, is a multidisciplinary research institute dedicated to the study of Sri Lanka's strategic interests—including defence, national security, law, economics, cultural relations, agriculture, environment, and international relations.

• Salary Scale: Rs. 116,763/- (Basic Salary) + Rs. 17,800/- (Cost of Living Allowance) effective from 01.01.2026 to 31.12.2026; increasing to Rs. 133,220/- + Rs. 17,800/- (Cost of Living Allowance) effective from 01.01.2027.

Scope of Responsibilities

• Conduct scientific research and manage academic affairs pertaining to the statutory role conferred upon the institution, specifically assigned by the appointing authority.

Candidate Qualifications & Requirements

Applicants must fulfill either of the following two pathways:

• Pathway 1:

  • A Special Degree in Business Management, Public Administration, Public Policy, Commerce, Economics, Law, International Relations & Strategic Studies, or any other relevant field recognized by the University Grants Commission.

  • AND a Postgraduate Degree (Masters) in a relevant field.

  • AND a minimum of eight (08) years of research experience in a government corporation, board, statutory institution, or reputed private institution after obtaining the first degree.

• Pathway 2:

  • A Special Degree or Postgraduate Degree (Masters) in a relevant field recognized by the University Grants Commission.

  • AND a PhD Degree in a field relevant to the subject area of the post.

  • AND a minimum of five (05) years of research experience in a government corporation, board, statutory institution, or reputed private institution after obtaining the first degree.

• Age Limit: Must be between 30 and 55 years of age.
