Job Description & Responsibilities
The Securities and Exchange Commission of Sri Lanka (SEC)—the apex regulator of the nation’s capital market—is seeking a dynamic, ethical, and results-oriented professional for the position of Assistant Director - Finance.
The successful candidate will assist in the smooth functioning of the Finance Division, with key responsibilities including:
- Ensuring timely preparation of financial statements in compliance with SLFRS/LKAS/SLPAS and applicable regulations.
- Overseeing budgeting, financial planning, treasury operations, and financial reporting functions.
- Ensuring compliance with tax laws and statutory obligations, including VAT, SSCL, and Income Tax.
- Monitoring cash flow, investments, and banking relationships.
- Ensuring compliance with governance requirements and applicable laws.
- Assisting in the formulation and implementation of financial policies, procedures, and internal control systems.
Candidate Requirements & Qualifications
- Education: Possess a Bachelor’s degree with a Class in Finance / Accounting from a University recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) of Sri Lanka, OR be a Member of a recognized professional accounting body. (A Master's qualification and/or a Doctorate (PhD) will be an added advantage).
- Experience: Minimum of eight (8) years of senior managerial and/or managerial level experience in Finance and/or Accounting. Knowledge or experience in Government Finance and Administrative Procedures will be an advantage.
- Skills & Attributes:
- Articulate, analytical, and decisive with excellent communication skills in English, Sinhala, and/or Tamil.
- Computer literate.
- Strong commitment to meeting deadlines and delivering assigned responsibilities within stipulated timeframes.
- Sound judgment and discretion in handling confidential information with excellent interpersonal skills.
- Age Limit: Candidates should be between 30 to 50 years of age (the upper age limit does not apply to internal applicants or those from government sector institutions).
