Colombo Academy of Hospitality Management (CAHM) offers internationally recognized Australian qualifications in Hospitality, Foods, Tourism, and Events, in partnership with the William Angliss Institute (RTO 3045), Australia.

We are seeking a distinguished academic leader to assume the role of Deputy Centre Director - Academic Affairs, providing strategic direction and oversight across all academic functions. This is a senior leadership appointment suited to an individual with deep academic credibility, strong governance experience, and the ability to operate at international standards.

Role Overview & Key Responsibilities

Reporting to the senior leadership of the institution, the Deputy Centre Director - Academic Affairs will be responsible for:

• Providing strategic academic leadership, ensuring alignment with internationally recognized academic frameworks.

• Upholding and enhancing academic governance, quality assurance, and compliance standards in line with the requirements of the William Angliss Institute.

• Overseeing curriculum design, delivery, and continuous improvement to maintain academic rigor and relevance.

• Leading, mentoring, and developing academic teams, fostering a high-performance culture.

• Strengthening student outcomes through effective engagement, retention, and progression strategies.

• Establishing and maintaining robust systems for academic quality, assessment validation, and regulatory compliance.

• Contributing to the evolution of academic offerings and pathways in line with institutional direction.

• Building strong engagement with industry and professional bodies to ensure program relevance and global competitiveness.

• Representing the institution in academic, industry, and regulatory engagements.

Candidate Profile & Requirements

• Experience: Minimum 20+ years of experience in academia, including significant exposure to senior academic leadership roles.

• Education: MBA or equivalent postgraduate qualification in a relevant discipline (mandatory).

• Expertise: Demonstrated expertise in academic governance, quality assurance, and compliance within internationally recognized frameworks (preferably Australian VET and/or higher education).

• Environment Experience: Proven ability to operate across both vocational and degree-level academic environments.

• Key Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong track record in curriculum leadership, program development, and institutional strengthening.

  • Established capability in leading and developing high-calibre academic teams.

  • Experience in driving student success, retention, and graduate outcomes.

  • Sound understanding of competency-based training, assessment frameworks, and accreditation processes.

  • Highly developed communication, stakeholder engagement, and representation skills.

  • Strong analytical judgement, decision-making capability, and organisational leadership.

  • Professional maturity and presence suited to a senior institutional leadership role.
