Medical Officer

Pursuant to the instructions of the Health Services Committee of the Public Service Commission and the Service Minutes of the Sri Lanka Ayurveda Medical Service, applications are called for 177 vacant Primary Grade Medical Officer positions within the Department of Ayurveda.

Position Summary

Salary Scale

• Salary Scale: SL-2-2025: Rs. 91,750 - 3 x 2,400 - 7 x 2,420 - 2 x 2,490 - 16 x 3,900 - Rs. 184,170/-

Qualifications & Requirements

1. Educational & Professional Qualifications

• Degree: A 5-year degree in Ayurveda / Siddha / Unani Medicine from a university recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC).

• Internship: Completion of a one-year internship training at a hospital following the degree.

• Registration: Must possess registration certificates from the Sri Lanka Ayurveda Medical Council.

2. Age Limit (As of 16th November 2026)

• Minimum Age: 22 years

• Maximum Age: 45 years

3. Other Requirements

• Must be a citizen of Sri Lanka with a commendable character and sound physical/mental health to serve in any part of the island.

• All qualifications must be fulfilled in every respect by 16th November 2026.

Service Conditions & Deployment

• First Appointment Period: Newly appointed officers will be placed based on a merit list and must serve their initial service station for a mandatory period of two (02) years without requesting or being granted transfers.

• Governing Rules: Subject to Public Service Commission procedural rules, the Establishments Code, and the Sri Lanka Ayurveda Medical Service Minutes.

Selection Procedure

• Selection will be conducted by a General Interview Board appointed by the appointing authority, prioritizing the merit lists issued by the UGC for respective graduation years.
