The University of Sri Jayewardenepura invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for the position of Web and Digital Media Officer on an assignment basis at the Centre for IT Services.

Position Summary

Key Responsibilities Expected

  1. Maintain and administer approximately 50 WordPress-based University websites.

  2. Design, develop, and deploy new University websites and web applications when required.

  3. Create and manage web content, including news articles, announcements, and promotional materials.

  4. Design digital graphics, banners, flyers, infographics, and short promotional videos in collaboration with the Media Unit.

  5. Manage website backups, disaster recovery procedures, and content archiving.

  6. Monitor, maintain, and update web technology stacks, plugins, themes, and related software.

  7. Manage and coordinate social media campaigns and digital marketing activities.

  8. Ensure website security, monitor vulnerabilities, and implement security best practices.

  9. Optimize website performance, accessibility, and search engine visibility.

  10. Provide technical support and training to university website content contributors.

  11. Generate web analytics reports and recommendations for improving digital presence.

  12. Perform any other duties relevant to the post as assigned by the Coordinator, Media Unit, or other authorized officers of the University.

Qualifications & Requirements

Educational & Professional Qualifications

  • Route 01: Higher National Diploma (HND) in Information Technology, preferably in the Multimedia stream, with a minimum of one (01) year of relevant experience; OR

  • Route 02: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Multimedia, or a related field.

Preferred Skills & Competencies

  • Experience in WordPress multisite administration.

  • Knowledge of PHP, JavaScript, HTML5, CSS, and modern web frameworks.

  • Experience with graphic design tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, Figma, or equivalent.

  • Knowledge of video editing and multimedia content production.

  • Familiarity with SEO, web analytics, and social media marketing.

  • Understanding of web security and server administration.

Value of Assignment & Remuneration

  • Total Value of Assignment: Rs. 1,680,000.00 for the one-year period.

  • Monthly Allowance: An approximate all-inclusive monthly allowance of Rs. 140,000.00 paid monthly, subject to satisfactory performance.
