The National Aquatic Resources Research and Development Agency (NARA) is the premier national institution responsible for research, development, and management of aquatic resources in Sri Lanka, operating under the Ministry of Fisheries, Aquatic and Ocean Resources. NARA invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced individuals for the following permanent positions.

Summary of Vacancies

(Note: Remunerations up to 01.01.2027 will be paid in accordance with Schedule II of Management Services Circular No. 01/2025, alongside approved government allowances).

Position Details & Qualifications

1. Director General (01 Post)

• Educational Qualifications (Satisfy Route 01 or 02):

  • Route 01: A Degree recognized by the UGC in Science, Agriculture, Business Administration, Public Administration, Commerce, or a related field, AND a Postgraduate Degree or Full Membership in a recognized professional management institute, WITH at least 18 years of management-level experience in a state corporation, statutory board, or private institution (at least 5 years must be at a senior management level).

  • Route 02: A UGC-recognized degree in Science, Agriculture, Business Administration, Public Administration, Commerce, or a related field, AND a PhD in a relevant field, WITH at least 5 years of experience with an excellent service record in a senior management level position in a state corporation, statutory board, or private sector institution after obtaining the PhD.

• Age Limit: Not less than 35 years and not more than 55 years for external applicants.

2. Director (Administration & Human Resources) (01 Post)

• Educational Qualifications:

  • A UGC-recognized degree in Human Resource Management, Public Administration, Business Administration, Commerce, or a related field, AND a Postgraduate Degree or Full Membership in a recognized professional charter relevant to the subject area.

• Experience: At least 13 years of management-level experience in the relevant field within a government institution, state corporation, board, statutory body, or recognized private institution.

• Age Limit: Not less than 35 years and not more than 55 years.

General Conditions & Terms of Employment

• Nature of Appointment: Permanent, with entitlements to Employees' Provident Fund (EPF) and Employees' Trust Fund (ETF).

• General Requirements: Must be citizens of Sri Lanka, possess required physical and mental fitness to serve in any part of the island, and maintain an excellent moral character.

• Public Sector Candidates: Applicants currently serving in government departments, statutory boards, or state corporations must submit their applications through their respective Heads of Institutions.
