Railway Guard (Open)

Job Title: Railway Security Guard (Male/Female) - Grade III Department: Sri Lanka Railways Department, Railway Security Service Location: Colombo, Sri Lanka (Exam Location) Employment Type: Full-Time (Permanent with a 3-year probationary period)

The Sri Lanka Railways Department is inviting applications from qualified Sri Lankan citizens for an Open Written Competitive Examination to recruit candidates for the post of Railway Security Guard (Male/Female) - Grade III. There are 239 vacancies for male guards and 17 vacancies for female guards, making a total of 256 vacancies.

Qualifications:

• Educational Qualifications: Must have passed the G.C.E (Ordinary Level) Examination in not more than two sittings, securing passes in six (06) subjects including Sinhala/Tamil/English and Mathematics, with at least two (02) Credit passes.
• Physical Requirements:
• Adequate physical and mental fitness to serve in any part of Sri Lanka.
• Height (without footwear): Males - 5 feet 6 inches; Females - 5 feet 2 inches.
• Eyesight: Normal vision without glasses (subject to L.B. 29 eyesight test).
• Chest (Males): 32 inches.
• Age Limit: Between 18 and 28 years as of 2026.09.28.
• Other: Must be an unmarried Sri Lankan citizen of excellent character. Clergy of any religion are not eligible to apply.

Salary Scale:

• Placed at the salary point of Rs. 49,550/-. The scale is Rs. 49,550/- x 540-27 x 670-71,420/- per month, plus government-approved allowances.
