Assistant General Manager (Audit)

Position Summary

• Role: Assistant General Manager - Audit

• Grade: Equivalent to the grade of Assistant General Manager in executive management

• Employment Type: Contract Basis (Annual performance evaluation)

Key Responsibilities

• Support senior management and the Chief Internal Auditor in providing independent and objective assurance on the effectiveness of the Bank's internal control, risk management, and governance systems and processes.

• Assist in implementing the Bank's risk-based internal audit plan.

• Conduct audits covering banking, financial, operational, technology, risk, and support functions.

• Evaluate the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls, risk management, and governance processes.

• Identify weaknesses, process deficiencies, and emerging risks.

• Review compliance with applicable laws, CBSL directions, internal policies, and procedures.

• Monitor the implementation of audit recommendations and corrective actions.

• Prepare audit reports and communicate significant findings to senior management and relevant Board committees.

• Support special investigations and reviews as directed by the Chief Internal Auditor or Audit Committee.

• Assess the effectiveness of risk management and compliance functions.

• Review the adequacy of management information and control systems.

• Ensure that audit assignments are conducted objectively, independently, and with due professional care.

• Support the development of audit methodologies, technology-enabled audit techniques, and data analytics.

Qualifications & Eligibility Criteria

Citizenship & Age

• Citizenship: Must be a citizen of Sri Lanka.

• Age Preference: Preferably below 55 years as of the closing date of applications.

Educational & Professional Qualifications

• Degree: A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Banking, Business Administration, Economics, or a related discipline from a university or degree-awarding institute recognized by the University Grants Commission of Sri Lanka (UGC).

  AND

• Professional Membership: Fellow Membership of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka), Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), or Institute of Internal Auditors (CIA).

Experience Requirements

Candidates must satisfy one of the following experience routes:

• A minimum of five (05) years of experience at Senior Managerial level as an Internal Auditor in a bank or financial institution;

  OR

• A minimum of ten (10) years of post-professional-qualifying experience at managerial level in a practicing firm of Chartered Accountants, including at least five (05) years at Senior Managerial level, with demonstrable experience in conducting audits of banks and/or financial institutions.
