Internal Vacancy Notice: Non-Academic Staff Positions

The University of Moratuwa, a premier technical and academic institution in Sri Lanka, invites applications from suitably qualified, confirmed permanent employees within the University Grants Commission (UGC) or higher educational institutes/universities affiliated with the UGC for the following vacant positions:

1. Post: Technical Officer (Grade II) Segment "B"

• Recruitment Category: Trainee Technical Officer (initial 3-year training period leading to permanent confirmation as Technical Officer Grade II Segment "B")

• Target Group: Confirmed permanent staff of the UGC or UGC-affiliated higher educational institutions

• Salary Scale: U-MT 1 (III)

  Rs. 51,095 - 7x540; 10x640 - 60,575/- p.m.

  (Salaries are paid in accordance with Management Services Circular No. 06/2025 and UGC Circular No. 02/2025(i))

• Method of Recruitment: Aptitude / Practical Test and Structured Interview

Eligibility Criteria & Required Qualifications

Applicants must satisfy one (01) of the following qualifications:

1. Option (a):

   • Passed the G.C.E. (Ordinary Level) Examination in six (06) subjects in not more than two (02) sittings; AND

   • Obtained Credit (C) passes in five (05) subjects, which must include Science and Mathematics.

2. Option (b):

   • Passed the G.C.E. (Ordinary Level) Examination in six (06) subjects including Science and Mathematics in not more than three (03) sittings; AND

   • Possess at least eight (08) years of satisfactory permanent service in the University Grants Commission (UGC) or a recognized higher educational institute.

3. Option (c):

   • Completed at least fifteen (15) years of satisfactory permanent service as a Laboratory Assistant in a recognized higher educational institution.

Training & Confirmation Process

• Selected applicants will initially be appointed as Trainee Technical Officers for a mandatory training period of three (03) years.

• Upon successful completion of the training period, candidates who demonstrate proficiency in laboratory operations, requisitioning/ordering materials, maintenance of inventory/stock registers, and English typewriting will be confirmed in the post of Technical Officer Grade II Segment "B".

2. Post: Public Health Inspector (Grade III)

• Target Group: Confirmed permanent staff of the university system

• Salary Scale: U-MT 1 (III)

  Rs. 51,095 - 7x540; 10x640 - 60,575/- p.m.

  (Salaries are paid in accordance with Management Services Circular No. 06/2025 and UGC Circular No. 02/2025(i))

• Method of Recruitment: Structured Interview

Eligibility Criteria & Required Qualifications

• Must have successfully passed the Public Health Inspector (PHI) Examination conducted by the Department of Health, Sri Lanka.

• Must be an active, confirmed permanent employee within the university system.

Salary Placement & General Terms

• In accordance with UGC Commission Circular No. 06/2020, salary placement upon transfer or appointment from one post to another within the university system will be governed by Chapter VII, Section 9 of the Establishments Code of Sri Lanka.
