Job Overview
The Faculty of Animal Science and Export Agriculture at Uva Wellassa University of Sri Lanka invites applications from qualified graduates for a Research Assistant position under an SLCARP/NARP-funded research project.
Position: Research Assistant (Leading to an MPhil Degree)
Project Title: Enhancing Agricultural Productivity and Livelihoods: A Comprehensive Study on Integrating Farm Field and Business School Approaches within the 4Ps Extension Model Operating in Tea Smallholder Communities of Ratnapura and Badulla Districts
Funding Body: Sri Lanka Council for Agricultural Research Policy (SLCARP) / National Agricultural Research Plan (NARP)
Employment Type / Duration: 36-month project appointment (includes opportunity to register for an MPhil degree)
Research Locations: Ratnapura and Badulla Districts (Field-based role requiring travel)

Key Responsibilities
Conduct comprehensive field surveys and collect research data within tea smallholder communities across the Ratnapura and Badulla districts.
Assist in organizing training programs, stakeholder meetings, and workshops.
Support accurate data entry, statistical data analysis, and report preparation.
Prepare project documentation, technical reports, and progress updates.
Collaborate closely with the principal investigator, research team, and project stakeholders.
Educational & General Requirements
1. General Conditions
Age Limit: Applicants must be 35 years of age or below as of the closing date of applications.
2. Educational Qualifications
A four-year Bachelor's degree with First Class Honours, Second Class Upper Division, or a Bachelor's degree with Second Class Lower Division.
Degree background in Tea Technology and Value Addition, Plantation Management, or Agricultural Science from a recognized university.
Note: Candidates with a specialization in Agricultural Extension will be given preference.
Monthly Stipend Structure
