General Information & Service Conditions

• Organization: Department of National Zoological Gardens

• Employment Type: Permanent and Pensionable (Subject to government policy decisions regarding pensions and widows'/orphans' pension schemes).

• Probation Period: A 03-year probationary period applies from the date of assuming duties, along with mandatory efficiency bar examinations and second official language proficiency (Public Administration Circular No. 18/2020).

• General Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must be a citizen of Sri Lanka.

  • Age must be not less than 18 years and not more than 45 years.

  • Must possess an excellent moral character.

  • Must possess adequate physical and mental fitness to serve in any part of the island and discharge duties.

Job Categories & Salary Scales

Category 01: PL-01 Grade Posts (Structured Interview Basis)

• Included Posts: Security Guard (Male/Female), Canteen Assistant, Store Keeper, etc.

• Educational Qualifications: Passed G.C.E. (O/L) examination in six (06) subjects with at least two (02) credit passes in not more than two sittings.

• Professional Qualifications: Relevant professional qualifications related to the field will be considered as an added qualification during the structured interview.

• Salary Scale (PL-01): Rs. 24,000 – 10x450 – 10x490 – 10x540 – 12x600 – Rs. 30,180/= (Note: Salaries will be paid in accordance with Public Administration Circular No. 10/2025 starting from 2027.01.01; until then, salaries are calculated as per Schedule III of the circular).
