Key Responsibilities
- Maintain residential students' discipline, security, welfare, hygiene, and meal management in coordination with the Warden.
- Supervise kitchen sanitation, meal preparation, purchasing records, and rationing of food items.
- Attend to sick students and look after the protection of student and government property.
- Ensure proper supply and management of dormitory electricity and water facilities, and track student movement/lodging logbooks.
Qualifications & Eligibility Criteria
- Age Limit: Not less than 25 years and not more than 35 years as of the closing date of applications (02.11.2026).
- Educational Qualifications:
- G.C.E. Advanced Level (A/L): Passed in at least one (01) subject (excluding Common General Test and General English).
- G.C.E. Ordinary Level (O/L): Passed in 6 subjects at one sitting with credit passes in 4 subjects, including Language (Sinhala/Tamil/English in which the candidate applies), Mathematics, and two other subjects.
- General Requirements: Sri Lankan citizen of excellent character, with sound physical and mental fitness to serve in any part of Sri Lanka.
Examination & Selection Structure
- Written Examination (Medium: Sinhala or Tamil):
- General Knowledge (100 Marks | 1 Hour): Multiple-choice test covering duties and general awareness relevant to hostel administration.
- Intelligence / Aptitude Test (100 Marks | 1 Hour): Multiple-choice test assessing numerical ability, logical reasoning, and general intellect.
- Pass Mark: Minimum 40% for each paper.
- Aptitude Assessment Interview (100 Marks):
- Twice the number of vacancies based on the written exam merit list will be summoned.
- Marking Scheme: Additional Educational Qualifications (25 marks), Computer Literacy (15 marks), Language Skills (15 marks), and Professional Presentation & Personality (45 marks: 20 for role understanding, 10 for office management, 10 for presentation ability, 5 for personality).
- Candidates must come prepared for a maximum 3-minute presentation.
Key Service Conditions
- Mandatory service period of at least 3 years at the first station of appointment.
- Must pass the 1st Efficiency Bar Examination within 3 years of recruitment.
- Must acquire the prescribed official language proficiency as per Public Administration Circular 18/2020 within the stipulated timeframe.
