Eligibility & Qualifications (Limited Stream)
- Target Group: Active Grade I Labour Officers of the Department of Labour as of 23.10.2026.
- Experience Requirement: Minimum of 10 years of active and satisfactory service in the post of Labour Officer and confirmed in the post.
- Performance & Increments: Satisfactory or above performance rating and earned all salary increments during the 5 years immediately preceding the closing date.
- Disciplinary Record: No disciplinary punishments under PSC Circular No. 01/2020.
- General Requirements: Sri Lankan citizen of excellent character, with sound physical and mental fitness to serve in any part of the country.
- Age Limit: Not applicable.
Selection Scheme & Examination Structure
- Written Examination (Medium: Sinhala, Tamil, or English):
- Labour Law (කම්කරු නීති): 100 Marks | 3 Hours | 40% Pass Mark (Covers Wages Boards, Industrial Disputes, EPF, TEWA, Trade Unions, Factories, Shop and Office Employees, and related acts).
- General Intelligence (සාමාන්ය බුද්ධිය): 100 Marks | 1 Hour | 40% Pass Mark.
- Management Aptitude (කළමනාකරණ අභියෝග්යතාව): 100 Marks | 2 Hours | 40% Pass Mark.
- Structured Interview (100 Marks):
- Only candidates who pass all written subjects (minimum 40% each) qualify.
- Evaluates additional active and satisfactory service beyond the mandatory 10 years (awarded proportionately up to 100 marks; periods of 6+ months counted).
- Final merit selection is determined by the combined total marks of the written exam and structured interview.
Key Service Conditions
- Appointees must pass the 1st Efficiency Bar Examination within 3 years of appointment.
- Must acquire the prescribed official language proficiency within the stipulated timeline as per Public Administration Circular 18/2020.
