Senior Systems Administrator – IBM AIX, Storage and Power System
The job holder is mainly responsible for effective provisioning, installation, configuration, maintenance and troubleshooting of the IBM Power/Storage Systems’ hardware, software and related infrastructure. The detailed job role is as below.
The Job:
- Install and manage IBM Power systems and enterprise storage systems, perform OS patch updates and upgrades of IBM Power Systems, vulnerability fixing, Storage firmware upgrades, etc.
- Carry out regular systems maintenance activities (daily/weekly/monthly) in order to ensure optimum system performance for applications running in IBM Power systems
- Ensure all critical backups of all production systems are in place as per the procedure guidelines.
- Coordinate with vendors to keep the systems up to date and carry periodic maintenance and health checks.
- Analyze technical requirements of new IT projects and provision resources accordingly
- Analyze resource utilizations and provide recommendations for future capacity needs/upgrades
- Prepare technical / logical Network diagrams to represent systems architecture / connectivity
- Design DR switchover processes for the applications running in IBM Power Systems
Entry Requirements
The Person:
- Possess a BSc degree in IT or relevant field.
- Possess at least 3 years of experience in IBM Power and Storage Systems administration
- Excellent communication and analytical skills.
- Should possess a minimum rating of “Meets Expectation” for the last performance year.
- Should not have a disciplinary inquiry under investigation.
