Job Description

SriLankan IT Systems drives the airline’s IT strategy through digital transformation, technology adoption, data modeling, business intelligence, and business continuity. The focus is on transforming business and operational processes, expanding digital passenger reach, and improving customer experience through solutions design, development, and integrations while enhancing airline IT domain knowledge. Award-winning SriLankan IT team is seeking dynamic individuals to join as Software Engineer.

The position focuses on applying the principles of engineering to software development in order to develop quality software systems to perform critical airline operations and business processes. Analyze and modify existing software as well as design, construct, and test end-user applications that meet user expectations — all through software programming languages. Whilst Liaising with the company IT Security and IT Quality Management teams to enforce and maintain industry best practices, policies, and procedures, identify re-usable software components, and maintain quality of design documentation.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Provide high quality, error free, efficient software solutions, and tools while ensuring best performance, reusability, and maintainability.
• Engage with software solution development in the areas such as corporate web development, e-commerce operations, passenger relations, operational data modelling, flight information handling, inventory, Business Process Reengineering and Airline System Integrations.
• Plan and provide realistic time estimates for the tasks assigned and work on achieving them with the expected outcome.
• Translate the functional requirements into a specification of functional processes, program modules and data definitions.  Document the specifications and design for code development and testing with the Business Analysist (BA) and Quality Assurance (QA) support.
• Be a leading team member in the digital transformation projects based on latest technology stacks.
• Prepare test conditions and test own or others software.  Assist the business users in Testing and system acceptance activities. Assist in the training and implementation phases of projects.
• Participate actively within the project team, accurately report time spent on projects and progress achieved, contribute to improving the performance of the IT Department.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree * in relevant field from a recognized University with minimum of 01 year post qualifying Relevant Experience (* Engineering, Computer Science, General Science with Mathematics, Management Information Systems, Applied Statistics etc.)
  OR
• Full professional qualification equivalent to NVQ Level 7 with 3 years post qualifying experience in a relevant discipline.
