The Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Manager for our Group Legal Department, specializing in Litigation and Claims. This role involves ensuring that all business units within the John Keells Group operate within defined legal parameters and ethical standards while achieving their business goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage litigation and claims-related matters, including liaising with external counsel, preparing and filing court documentation, and appearing in court when necessary.
  • Assist business units in handling police and CID complaints, regulatory inquiries, and interactions with authorities such as the Consumer Affairs Authority, Public Health Inspector, and Sri Lanka Customs.
  • Draft pleadings and other necessary legal documentation for cases.
  • Conduct general corporate legal work, including reviewing commercial agreements and performing routine notarial tasks.

Qualifications:

  • Must be an Attorney at Law; a Degree in Law is an added advantage.
  • Minimum of 5 years of post-qualifying experience in litigation and claims.
  • Licensed Notary Public with authorization to practice in Colombo in English.
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and tackle challenges with a positive attitude.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
  • Smart, pleasant, and outgoing personality.
