🌍 Job Opening: Head of Business – Africa

This is a recruitment advertisement from the LOLC Group, a leading conglomerate, seeking a Head of Business to drive and manage the overall business performance of the Group’s operations in a designated country within the African region.

The role is a foreign assignment for an enthusiastic and dedicated individual to become part of the LOLC team overseas.


💼 The Role (Key Responsibilities)

The Head of Business will be responsible for driving and managing the overall business performance of the Group’s operations. This requires strong commercial acumen, proven leadership capability, and a deep understanding of the financial services industry and local market dynamics. Key functions include:

  • Develop, implement, and execute business strategies to achieve the company’s financial and operational objectives.
  • Oversee all business operations, including sales, marketing, credit, collections, and customer experience, ensuring efficiency and adherence to Group policies and standards.
  • Lead and guide the country teams to meet performance targets, enhance productivity, and foster a culture of engagement.
  • Drive business growth by identifying new opportunities, markets, and partnerships while maintaining portfolio quality and profitability.
  • Collaborate closely with Group Functional Teams to ensure alignment with Group governance, regulatory, and operational frameworks.
  • Monitor and analyze key financial metrics, performance indicators, and risk factors to support strategic decision-making.
  • Identify and assess relevant market segments for targeted product strategies.
  • Lead and manage end-to-end product development.
  • Prepare and present periodic business performance reports and recommendations to Group Management and Board Committees.

✅ Ideal Candidates Should Have (Qualifications and Experience)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Economics, Management, or a related field; an MBA or equivalent postgraduate qualification is preferred.
  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience in the financial services industry, with at least 3 years in a senior managerial capacity, with direct exposure in business development.
  • Proven track record of driving business growth, achieving financial targets, and enhancing operational efficiency.
  • Strong leadership, people management, and stakeholder relationship management skills.
  • Excellent analytical and strategic planning capabilities, supported by sound financial and risk management knowledge.
  • Exposure to regulatory environments in emerging markets, particularly within the financial or microfinance sector, will be an added advantage.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in multicultural settings, with adaptability, resilience, and strong communication skills.

📍 Location & Compensation

  • Work Location: A designated country in Africa (on-site, with accommodation and local support provided).
  • Compensation: An attractive remuneration package will be provided. A return air ticket and a living allowance will also be provided for the selected candidate.
