Culinary Instructor / Lecturer

The MJF Group is a vertically integrated business in the tea industry with growing, manufacturing, branding & marketing of tea as its focus. We now wish to recruit high calibre individuals to join Sri Lanka’s leading international brand for the following position.

Responsible for imparting the theoretical foundation and basic practical foundational instruction for all students of the ECHS. S/he will work with the Principal and fellow lecturers to ensure that students are job ready with the necessary skills to enter a professional kitchen.

Work Location: Moratuwa, Sri Lanka

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

• A dedicated team player with strong leadership and management skills.
• Excellent communicator in both English / Sinhala and a good listener.
• Degree or Diploma in Culinary Field.
• At least 5 – 7 years working experience (2 years as a senior executive in the kitchen).

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

• Conducting Theoretical and practical sessions.
• Implementing the Curriculum of the Empower Culinary and Hospitality School (ECHS) in consultation with the principal.
• Assisting in upgrading the curriculum.
• Developing and implementing Lesson plans for culinary training.
• Formulation of student manual for the culinary students.
• Student selection and maintaining student database.
• Testing and evaluation of students.
• Coordinating with suppliers to ensure regular maintenance of kitchen equipment.
• Ensuring required hygiene practices and meeting standard procedures of the culinary training centre at all times.
• Random checks and provide technical advice to the WDP Society on proper food preparation good hygiene practices at the WDP kitchen.
• Planning, organizing and conducting income generating short term special programs/courses for the general public.
