Ethimale Plantation (Pvt) Ltd, a member of the Annunine group and a leading manufacturer of sugar, ethanol, electricity, CO2, and organic fertilizer, is looking for an Assistant Agronomist to join our Ethimale team. This role is crucial for advancing agricultural practices, ensuring optimal yields, and sustainability in sugar production.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with agronomists to develop and implement effective agronomy programs for sugar cultivation.
  • Provide on-site guidance to farmers on best practices in agronomy, soil management, and crop protection.
  • Conduct research to identify innovative solutions for improving crop yields, pest control, and disease prevention.
  • Work closely with the agricultural community to address challenges and disseminate knowledge on modern farming techniques.
  • Assist in the development of training materials and workshops for farmers and other stakeholders.
  • Collect and analyze data to assess the impact of agronomic interventions and recommend improvements.

Ideal Candidate:

  • A degree in Agriculture is essential, providing a solid foundation in agronomy principles and practices.
  • At least 1 year of experience in agriculture extension, demonstrating a strong understanding of farmer engagement and support.
  • 1 year of research experience, showcasing your ability to contribute valuable insights to agronomic practices.
  • Experience in a similar plantation sector is highly desirable, emphasizing your familiarity with crop management in comparable settings.
  • Proficient in data collection, analysis, and reporting.
  • Knowledge of modern agronomic technologies and tools.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective farmer engagement.
  • Demonstrated enthusiasm for sustainable agriculture and a commitment to advancing farming practices.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, including farmers, agronomists, and researchers.
