Golf Course Superintendent
Job Description
Location: Kandy, Sri Lanka
Victoria Golf Resort, home to a prestigious, award-winning 73-par, 18-hole Championship Golf Course, is seeking a dedicated Golf Course Superintendent to manage and maintain its top-tier golfing facilities. The course is designed by Donald Steele & Co and is consistently ranked among “The 100 Most Beautiful Courses in the World” and recognized as “The Best Golf Course in the Subcontinent.” The resort, owned by Rajawella Holdings Limited, features 42 luxurious chalets and villas.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the overall management and maintenance of the golf course and its agronomy.
- Provide technical support, working closely with the Troon Director of Agronomy, service providers, and suppliers.
- Supervise the approval process for chemical imports and manage operations of the golf course, including scheduling staff and monitoring work progress.
- Manage material requisitions, ensuring timely procurement of necessary supplies for the course’s upkeep.
- Conduct routine inspections of greens, tees, fairways, and general landscaping to ensure quality standards.
- Oversee the maintenance of the irrigation system with the support of the maintenance department.
- Assist with emergency situations such as bush fires, coordinating with security and maintenance teams.
- Evaluate quotations and contracts for external work, and manage payments for completed projects.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree or Higher National Diploma in Agriculture or a related field (agronomy, horticulture, plant science, soil science, turf management).
- 3-5 years of experience in golf course maintenance, preferably in a supervisory role.
- Prior experience with TROON facilities will be a strong advantage.
