đź“‹ Job Overview

This role is within the Financial Crime Compliance pillar, operating under the Compliance Department (CD). The job holder is responsible for managing financial crime risks by developing and implementing policies and processes to ensure the Bank follows applicable laws and regulations issued by the FIU (Financial Intelligence Unit), and to minimize the risks of non-compliance.


đź’Ľ The Job: Key Responsibilities

The main function is to lead the development, implementation, and maintenance of the bank’s financial crime policies and framework on regulatory obligations related to customer on-boarding, due diligence, and ongoing monitoring.

  • Policy & Framework: Develop and implement financial crime policies, procedures, and processes in compliance with internal policies and external regulations (AML/CFT).
  • Business Advisory: Provide compliance advice and guidance on AML/CFT queries arising from customer activities or profile to Business Lines.
  • Risk Management: Identify and assess risks based on information gathered while performing business advisory, review policies, and support the development of a risk-based approach.
  • Training & Awareness: Conduct training on AML/CFT and Regulatory matters for newly recruited and existing staff.
  • Audit & Review: Support the compliance officer in internal/external audit preparations and implement measures to remediate issues raised by the FIU.
  • Monitoring & Remediation: Lead the governance framework for FCC, ensure availability of necessary workflows, and monitor policy effectiveness.
  • Team Leadership: Support the team to carry out ABC risk evaluation and policy control implementation.
  • Handling Queries: Provide responses to the EDD inquiries raised by Correspondent Banks on Out-ward remittances and In-ward remittances.

👤 The Person: Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Professional Qualification:
    • Professional qualification in Banking and/or Compliance and/or Banking Operations, OR
    • Diploma in Banking (IBSL), OR
    • Bachelor’s degree in Law, Business, Finance, or related field.
    • Professional certifications such as CA/CPA, ICA, or equivalent preferred.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum 12 years of experience in a permissible Bank concerning Audit/ Compliance/ Legal or Branch Operations.
  • Key Skills:
    • Understanding of risk management principles and internal control frameworks.
    • Familiarity in financial systems and bank departments.
    • Strong understanding of banking regulations in the areas of AML, CFT, KYC.
    • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills to interpret complex regulations and identify risks.
    • Ability to lead training initiatives and to influence and persuade others to adopt compliance best practices.
