The Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Legal Officer to provide comprehensive legal expertise and support to our organization. This role involves ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, handling litigation, and advising management on legal matters.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide legal expertise and support on issues related to the organization’s functions, structures, and activities.
• Draft, review, and vet legal documents, agreements, and contracts.
• Develop, implement, and review legal policies and procedures to ensure compliance with existing legislation.
• Handle intellectual property matters, including attending inquiries.
• Advise management on relevant legislation and any changes affecting the organization.
• Provide day-to-day legal and regulatory support to functional areas, addressing compliance queries and reviews.
• Represent the company in courts, tribunals, and alternative dispute resolution forums, including drafting pleadings and conducting trials in Sinhala and English.
• Monitor cases filed against the organization, prepare legal reports, and liaise with legal consultants and authorities.
• Attend inquiries at various regulatory bodies and authorities.

Qualifications:

• Must be an Attorney-at-Law.
• Bachelor of Laws (LLB) Degree from a recognized institution; a Master’s degree in Law (LLM), Business Administration (MBA), or equivalent qualifications is an added advantage.
• Minimum of 3 years of working experience, including handling litigation and conducting cases in court.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and guidance.
• Strong attention to detail, planning, and coordination skills.
• Excellent communication and writing skills in English and fluency in Sinhala.
• Computer literate with the ability to work in a fully computerized environment.
• Strong analytical and negotiation skills, with a willingness to work extra hours when required.
• Age below 38 years.
